Default Netflix now in Canada

Not sure if this is the right section but I figured it is tech news so why not

Netflix: Rent as many movies as you want for only $8.99 a month! Free Trial

I will likely be giving this a go once I read all the fine print .....ok, I lied, I won't be giving it a go

LMAO!!....yup!..the content is pretty hilarious now that I've had a look at it. We can only hope this is just because of start up and that the content will get more current once they get off the ground. I'm more concerned with the picture (HD), it doesn't look to enticing so far.

Popeye?????!!!....that wasn't good for ANYONE!

Watching for 1 hour will use approximately 1GB of bandwidth and approximately 2GB an hour if you are watching HD.
Seems to me that'd be an awfully quick way to eat up my 60 GB cap........ :)

My thought exactly ss, so let me see here, pay another $50 to get 175GB from rogers, plus $8 for what is perhaps the crappiest selection of movies/tv I've ever seen = EPIC FAIL NETFLIX...lol....man, how disappointing!

Their selection sucks because they can't afford to buck up for new release stuff. If I want new releases, I usually just use Shaw's Video on Demand. It costs the same as blockbuster without the drive.

just go with the cheapest (fast) internet they offer and pay the extra $30 month and you have unlimited.
or at least it work like that with sympatico, $45 internet (60gb cap) plus $2 per gb up to $30 max. $75 for unlimited.. sorta. lol.
better than paying $85 for the ultimate (200gb) or whatever they call it and paying up to $115 if you go over by 15gb at $2 per gb.

The max overage charge with Rogers has been raised to $50, and I believe Bell/Alliant followed suit. (Although down east, alliant apparently doesn't enforce caps at all).

We've never had any bandwidth problems with bell/aliant.. and I pull at least 60GB a month monthly.. there's my brother who probably uses even more.. and the rest of my fam for another few gigs..
