I tried it last night to update from 10.8 to 10.9, I had to right click and select the option from the menu (I'm fine with that approach) and it downloaded and installed just fine. So far, so good I'll chime in If I notice any issues.

I think this is a good idea but Steam auto making me breakfast every morning sounds better.

Oh and here we go with the "ATi has crappy drivers" from people who don't clean their registries.

In fairness to those people, if the code for uninstalling the previous drivers was written properly, you wouldn't have to clean your registry to install new drivers (or any software for that matter).

Unfortunately, the issue of old drivers being uninstalled improperly, lies on both sides of the fence.

Um you do not need to clean registry files what so ever for most normal people.

About this whole "initiative" that they have going on... where the was AMD/ATi at PAX? I was very sad to see nVIDIA all over the place with only a brief mention or two of ATi. Sigh.

The update through Steam seems to have worked out well, though.

Never had any problems installing new drivers over old ones, and I have both Nvidia drivers (the legit on that allowed Physx support) and ATI drivers installed and have no problems either.

I never had any problems with driver installs until recently when F1 2010 completely screwed up and a registry clean & reinstall worked a treat. 15 years of PC upgrades and the first time I've ever had that to deal with.

Also; this Steam auto update thing crashed my game of Civ V (when it had finished downloading and before the driver install had even begun).
