Personally I think this is rather cool. I don't doubt most non enthusiast gamers are running rather old drivers.

Well it doesn't seem to be automatic to me, not even sure if there is a notifier. I got the popup when I reloaded steam that mentioned this ability is now available and did the 'check now' thing. It downloaded the driver but asks you if you want to install it. There is an option in the steam menu to check for updates.

I somehow doubt this feature will be available, you will just need to stick to the old method of uninstalling and then reinstalling old drivers.

Well I installed the new 10.9 drivers through steam. I was disappointed that it doesn't give you the option for custom install just goes straight in, now I need to find out what the communication opt-in thing is.

I don't think the installation through Steam installs any of the other crap. As far as I can tell, it just installs the drivers and nothing else.

Yeah, after rebooting I got a pop up for the opt-in thing, glad to see it didn't install WoW or whatever it is ATi drivers include the option for.
