Not really. Even at 1920, the difference between the 1 gig and 768meg is about 3fps with 4xAA 16xAF on the review here at HWC in BF:BC2. Thats less then 10% difference in framerates for 15% more cash.

That is assuming stock cards. If you overclock either card, its totally different again.

the gf104's are made to be clocked higher, no question about it. unless one happens to have bought the wrong card for checking his/her mail. the little extra bit under the hood does make a difference.

It depend on the games, BFBC2 use no or almost no tesselation at all. It's mostly DX11 soft shadow. When you take a game that use it more, like Metro 2033 (just because it's the one that use it the most right now) the difference are double FPS. AvP too have a good difference even if it's only the Ennemies that are Tesselated

hm a ref design 460 768 would be perfect for me if the price go down a bit:) I was waiting for the ATI 6XXX to see final price of 5XXX and GTX 4XX but now, the card that suit my need seems to come at a decent price.

460GTX in SLI now becomes an even greater setup... I'll look into getting another one in my PC now.

That's great! My train of thought is something's just around the corner from being launched. Perhaps they're trying to grab whatever sales they can b4 the new AMD cards come out.

Of course the price was dropped on the GTX 460, I just bought one. It seems whenever I buy something like that, it's on sale in a couple of weeks. I should be used to it, but I"m not.

BFBC2 uses no tessellation. Only a few game right now use it but none of them truly uses the potential of tessellation. Not even Metro 2033 compared to the heaven benchmark.

Then again a mid range card is not gonna be able to push tessellation to begin with unless at low res.
