The Hydra chip as we know it, has, until now, only been available on a motherboard by motherboard basis. In fact only a very specific board, from a specific company; MSI.
The "Unity" chip will allow card manufacturers to build it onto the video card itself, allowing the HYDRA (multiGPU, multi vendor) technology to be used with what ever motherboard you wish.
Also, because it can be implemented at the card mfg level, there is no need to co-ordinate with NVIDIA or ATI..eerr AMD sorry.... to be able to make it work
So basically, you can buy a video card, with the HYDRALOGIX 200 engine and chip implemented and use it with any other video card you wish for a multi-gpu setup.
