According to Digitimes.com, AMD is expected to officially announce the Southern Islands GPUs in October, with sales starting as early as November 2010. If it's true, you can't really complain about plans to drop prices on current products, especially when those products are still competing fairly well in the marketplace.

If they do manage to get stock out by november, it should be an interesting Christmas season with two fairly new GPU lines competing against each other. (Just so long as there's stock and we don't end up with the on-line "perfect storm" we had in Christmas 2006.... ;) ).

I for one am looking forward to see what advancements ATI has been doing to one up nVidia.

To be fair, the only thing Nvidia put out that doesn't lick balls is the gtx 460.
I'll be holding off until the new 32/28nm gpus come rolling in. I'm willing to be those cards will be freaking awesome. I only plan on getting 1 card of each frabrication process. :D

huh I was about to say the ATI needs new cards because nvidia's line is pretty strong. ATI needs a better high end line-up because right now it isn't that good compared to the 460-480.
