Really? They crammed 7 surround sound speakers and a subwoofer into the headphones? Last time I checked, headphones provided stereo sound, not 7.1 surround.

It's not like this is a new concept. A quick google search will show you many different brands of "surround sound" headphones which reproduce directional audio with varying degrees of success.

Now, the .1 part of it.... that's a stretch, but it's how the audio signal is defined so I suppose it's within advertising norms.

Some "surround" gaming headphones have 3-4 small speakers per ear as opposed to a big one as traditional headphones would. This provides directional audio in that sounds coming from behind are emitted from speakers more to the rear of the headphones, etc.

You're right about the sub though, there is none.
