I'm sure the last thing they wanted in the news 1 day prior to this release was the complaints from the UAE about their lack of access to traffic over the blackberry network for security reasons.

OTOH, what percentage of blackberry users are in those areas (or travel though the airport), and would they make a bigger splash by sticking to their guns WRT the privacy of their customers?

edit: Should also be noted that they also released a new blackberry OS at the same time which is supposed to help close the app gap between BB and apple.

I really, really, really want this phone. It fixes everything i hated about both the bold and storm.
I might have to sell my Acer Liquid E and get this.... my thumbs are begging for BBM again.

They are supposed to be rolling the OS update to all of their current generation phones as well, provided how fast the carriers do this. It is suppose to bridge some of their other phone's gaps which were OS limited/based. I got to play with this phone a little bit and tell you what, cant wait till we get it in canada as i want one.

Heh.... can I put a sim card into something like this on a Pay-As-You-Go plan? We use something like 5 minutes of talk time and absolutely no text on our PAYG cell phone, but toys can be nice..... :)

Nice! KB is a BIG selling point for me. If this new OS does the web as well as iOS I am sold. I just haven't been able to fall in love with any Android phones yet and I don't want an iPhone.

Arinoth, you with RIM? if you cant or don't want to answer here, pm me.

I'll get the pricing info out the second i get it. One of the benefits of working for a rogers brand :) Rumors out of the Montreal buying office are that Fido will get it as well....

Best guess...

$199 3yr+Data
$399 2yr
$549 MTM

Is the new OS supposed to be less laggy? The main thing I dislike about Blackberrys is how slow the interface feels, even on Bolds. If they smoothed that out then it's a big plus.
