Default Google Nexus One Officially Dead

A little over 6 months after Google launched its first official Google phone, the company has been forced to call it quits.Despite the fact that the Nexus One was actually well reviewed by many bloggers and a popular choice for Android enthusiasts, it didn't quite receive the iPhone-esque adoption amongst everyday users that Google was expecting. ... Kind of sucks. If google hadn't dropped the ball so horribly they could have had a real winner on their hands. It's not that bad a device.

I will have mine tomorrow in the mail .
And, quoting google:
"The Nexus One is no longer available for direct purchase from Google, but will be made available through a partner for sale to registered developers. Please check back for more updates regarding developer availability."

So, it's going to be available still for a while, if you are a developer registered with them.

@Kayen: Yes, it's made by HTC. The hardware and design is comparable to the HTC Desire, except that the nexus has a noise cancelling mic built in. And it is not branded! :-)

I ordered mine as soon as they were available in Canada. I just love it and the apps for androids are just great. My 3 year old granddaughter just loves it also. I now have 2 pages of games and puzzles (16/page) for her. When ever she see's me she goes right for the phone. It's also good at making phone calls by the way.
Thanks Google it is a great phone.

Ya strangely I thought they were doing quite well. Three people I know all have them, as well as a few co-workers.

I was contemplating it myself or a Fall/Winter upgrade given the iphone 4 debacle. Though the Evo4G was pretty tempting.

Guess this helps to narrow down my choice.

Its not dead. They sell then in stores now. I bought one recently, great phone. Wind will most likely have one when they anounce their upcoming android phones.

All it is is a shift away from selling to stupid people online who don't understand anything, to selling to them in stores

I like the Nexus 1 my brother had one till he sold it and is now using an iPhone. Great phone just wished more people knew about it.

Though there are better android phones now so the Nexus One is already dated.
