Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in digital consumer electronics and information technology...
LOL they're hardly even a runner-up, let alone a leader in hard drive storage...

Besides, WD already made a 1TB 2.5" drive much earlier than these guys, alas also too thick.

I think at the moment, the largest capacity usable (9.5mm) 2.5" drive is WD's 750GB Scorpio Blue unit (WD7500BPVT).

WD Scorpio Blue 750 GB SATA Hard Drives ( WD7500BPVT )

my bad. but ,with over one year of refinements to the 2.5 1tb, youd think wd would come up with a proper lappy drive.

Perhaps not, but their 1TB F3 drives are just about the fastest out there.

Transfer speed is a nice thing but, not nearly as important as access times and IO performance.

The Samsung F3 drives can't measure up to WD's Caviar Black line in IO, access time and PCMark Vantage scores:

That's the 500GB version. The 1TB F3 drive has more cache and performs better.

It's just typical company PR bullcrap. Usually I edit it out, just forgot this time, as they all like to stroke their ego's in the first sentence of every PR. I swear the same guy writes these things for every company because they all start with

"XXX Company Inc, worldwide leader in blah, blah, blah, today announces....."

That said, Samsung drives were actually pretty kickass. Many people went for the F1, before the WD Blacks came out

Still not as good as a 2TB Caviar Black...

Plus that drive has a 3 year warranty instead of the Black's 5 years.
