What I am unsure of about the Steam survey is does it account for users with multiple systems? Somehow, I think not. As each time I got the notice "Would you like to participate...?" I was on my laptop. But I also use a desktop and recently a Mac too for Steam games. So on my account I have 3 different machines with very different hardware.

Oh well I know it's not perfect but this is probably one of the easiest and best ways to get a pretty good birds eye view of what gamers are using.

32.99% actually!

The fact is, this is a very accurate reflection of the common populace. Not everyone runs a 4xx Nv, or a 58xx ATi, nor do they update every 1-2 years.

I'm surprised Win7 is only 27% of the field. Everyone I know runs it. Even my parents and their friends. Weird.

Windows XP was at 42% in January: Steam Survey January 2010: Windows 7 overtakes Vista - Bright Side Of News*

10% drop in 6 months. Will be interesting when we revisit the survey in 6 months :)
