Default NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 Pictured

NVIDIA's first card based on the GF104 GPU, the GTX 460, has been leaked by EXPreview a month before its anticipated launch. The card will offer more affordable DX11 graphics for gamers and as shown in the photos is noticeably shorter than its GF100 counterparts. The rumoured technical specs of the card are a Graphics clock of 675MHz, Processor (S... [ Read full article ]

Are these chips still using the massive monolithic chip that the GTX 480 uses? If so, They are really wasting money on these lower performing cards. Looks like they're trying to nickel and dime us from all the failures they had trying to get these cards out the door...

Actually if you look at the specs, it actually seems to be a far better card than the GTX465.
Only 16 less CUDA cores, higher core/shader clocks, same or slightly lower memory interface, and significantly lower TDP. I don't think performance will be much lower than the GTX465, while having much lower consumption and heat.

Pricing is still a bit on the high side but this should be a way better card than the 5830/465. You could argue the 5770 gives better performance value, but I think this is an entirely different performance/price bracket.

But this is just speculation based on "rumored" specs.

PRICE. $270 is a complete ripoff for a card like this if it can't even come near the performance of a 5850 or 5830.

It will use the GF104, which is a smaller version of the Fermi GPU. It's not a GF100 with parts disabled like the other 400 series cards.

Smile Press Release

Agreed _dangtx_. Seems like a more reasonable card than the 465, but still priced too high.

I didn't say the smaller GPUs are expensive to make (although they may still be), I just said that the prices for this card are way too high if the rumours are actually true.

omgg I hope that ugly card doesn't turn out to be the reference 460... looks like an ugly fat midget (no offence intended m1dget). I'll pass on this generation, thanks.
