Default Thermalright Redefines Enormous With HR-02 and Silver Arrow CPU Coolers

Two new coolers from Thermalright have been spotted, that redefine the definition of enormous; two giant monster towers, the Silver Arrow and the HR-02. The Silver Arrow Cooler is a dual fin stack design, that squeezes in two 140mm TY series fans for airflow. Fortunately the dual fans have variable RPMs, from 500 to 1300 while only producing a maxi... [ Read full article ]

While these coolers might perform very well. I would be wary in mounting a 2.5lbs heatsink on my mobo.

someone wants to take the crown back? :)
question being, when will we see size/weight go down and performance up? hdt was quite the eye catcher, with lightweight coolers doing a marvelous jobbe of cooling the cpus.

i'm hoping these get released soon, at least for reviewers. the HR02 is off center too, so it shouldn't interfere with taller ram which is a feature i'm interested in.

Smile Press Release

I agree with magnetic. That is one heavy cooler. I was leary of installing the chilltec when it cam out and don't want anything heavier, but as stated, lighter would be preferable. That said, i would imagine with dual fans,(the right ones of course), this could be quite the cooler.

They might as well call the Silver Arrow the IFX-15 or something along those lines.

I dunno, lots of mass in those twin towers, like the D14, keeps the temps fairly level, not as big of a leap from idle to load, like most hsf. Speaking of the D14, you can close the side panel of an Antec 300, but it's very close. Between the heatsink itself, and the fans, it extends over all my ram slots on a P7H57D-V Evo. Guess I won't be changing ram much.

I'd sure like to see a high mass cooler shootout, that would be interesting, see who has the smallest idle/load delta, as well as the best overall performer.
