Galaxy Readies Single-Slot GeForce GTX 470 Graphics Card

Galaxy is working on a single-slot graphics card based on the GF100 in its GeForce GTX 470 version. If that didn't boggle your mind, the fact that it's not another card with a water-block, but a single-piece air-cooled card surely will. Enter the Galaxy GTX 470 model known as "Katana" in Japan and "Razor" in other markets. The PCB appears to be a little over 10 inches long, looks-wise makes use of Galaxy's Blue-silver-copper scheme from its other non-reference GTX 470 GC card.

This is what I like about nVidia allowing companies to change PCB designs.

On the other hand, I'll wait to see how well this thing stays cool under folding abuse**.

** Assuming I can fold with it.

nice. i expect temps to be up there with the fan quite loud :)

martin_metal_88 May 18, 2010 07:51 AM

there is 4 Possibilities for me.
1: the fan will be so fast that neighbourg will call police to complain.
2: The card bill be so hot that waterheater company will lose a tons of money.
3: The card will get downclocked to a impossible point.
4: She will die in about 15 minuts of folding or 2 hours of gaming.

Single slot big card are never a pretty good idea, the temp that this card reachis even a worst idea.
Good try indeed want to see some result.

Looks like a PR stunt to me.

I'd much rather pay a $150 premium for the single slot EVGA card.

Yes but a dual slot 260 wont use this much power with this high temp, and the single slot 260 was hell of a turbine in mesure of sound. She was also about 10-15 degree higher in temp compare to a reference design. So take these and put them on a 470 = epic fail?
