Default Galaxy GTX470 GC Edition Card Launched

Almost as inevitable as the rising of the sun, the non-reference GTX400 series cards will start showing up in the market. First on the list however is Galaxy with their GC edition GTX470. First to note beyond the almost industrial look of this Fermi card is the fact it comes up a little shorter, length that is. Based upon Galaxy's own PCB design t... [ Read full article ]

Nice to see a revised card that's a little shorter, but what is Galaxy's support on their products? Aren't they an OEM partner?

This card will not be available in North America. Most Galaxy cards aren't.

The problem with Palit is their 1 year warranty and tendency to be pricier than their counterparts. I mean, look at the GTX470. Palit is $370 on NE while EVGA is only $360...makes no sense to me.

Yes I remember that, Galaxy was selling non-reference 8800GT with Zalman-like HSFs. NCIX was selling those, probably other etailers also. Now, if Palit owns them, it might explain the presence of Palit, but not Galaxy. Who knows.

Galaxy is sold and stocked by Tigerdirect, just an FYI.

I'm not holding out much hope for non-reference cooling... Let's face it; EVGA only sells the GTX 470/480 FTW with a water block. Now, I know they're not one to typically stray from the reference designed cooler, but still, any kind of overclocking is going to require either high fan speed or a way more efficient cooler to keep it at the same temps as stock. Here's to hoping non-reference cooling for these cards can do that, without making it any louder
