And to Overclocked Rooster, you're prices are exaggerated. X58 boards can be had for under $200, and good triple channel ram can be had for under $170.
When I re-build my main rig every 1 or 2 years, I never skimp out on things like that. I buy a mid to high end motherboard, LOTS of RAM, a high end cooler, a high end video card, a high end PSU and plenty of fast drives. Why would I be looking at a budget X58 board? Why would I be looking only at a "decent" RAM kit?

I want mid or high end parts only. That means having lots of quality RAM, a quality board and a high end cooler to deliver good OC results. So if you input those parameters, an LGA1366 setup quickly spirals out of control. Worst part - it's a complete rip-off. LGA1366 only offers benefit to multi GPU setups and even a P55 with dual video cards both at 8X has been proven to only trail behind by less than 10% (and that's at crazy 2500 x 1600 resolutions).

LGA1366 = ripoff

The true performance per dollar lies in LGA1156 and AM3. The new hexacore CPUs from AMD will be very competitive simply because of the price of the CPUs themselves, the ability for people to re-use their AM2+ and AM3 mobos and possibly their RAM kits. AMD has a clear winner on their hands.
