Double lifetime warranty + 480 SLI or Tri-SLI + bargain bin PSU + small case on air + Overclocking + 30 minutes Furmark extreme runs to ''test for stability'' = alot or RMA and returns for XFX... We all know some people will be crazy enough to try it. ;)

Just kiddin. :)

That, or simply a business decision taken behind close doors. We will probably never know the true reason. But usually, money talks.

I respect and like XFX even more now... takes serious balls to turn down Nvidia's latest. At the same time, I fully understand their position: These cards will run too hot, and a double-lifetime warranty from XFX would cost them a LOT of money in the long run. In the meantime, they always want to stay on top... and the 5970 is still on top without them having to do any changes. Oh, which they are doing by the way...

This sure explains why the new GF 480/470 series cards aren't priced competitively with the HD 5870/5850. It's because the profit margins are so poor that they can't! This makes their mid-range fermi offerings all the more interesting to see

Does not surprise me at all. These new Geforce Cards do very little to impress me.....and the new cards are power starving and probably hot as hell that is just a recipe for Warranty disaster. XFX was smart to skip this until Nivdia smooths out its "bugs".

I am not sure why everyone thinks the cards will "die", even if you OC it to the max (and overvolt it) the fan will spin up (95C temps were with ~60-70% fan) to 100% and if even then the fan cannot cool it it will throttle itself at 105C.

Do you have any hint why "everyone" does not want an oven in his pc ?..

I personnally expected some more performance from these card, seeing how late they are. But I think that they are well priced according to there performance. If I had the ca$h to buy one, I just could not cause of heat. My pc is in a room on the third floor facing west without A/C. It's about 30+ in here on hot summer days. When I'm using the comp, it's about 3-5 more degrees.. (that was with an athlon x2 + 8500gt ) If I was to get this card, my PC would probably blow up.

Seriously. Playing intensive games with my GTX260 55nm requires me to up the fan speed to 75-80% (leaving it auto makes it shoot up to 100% whenever I go over 70 degrees) to keep loads around 75. Loud? Not when I'm gaming with headphones or with speakers. Temperatures supposedly go down to 80s with fan speed at 80%. guru3d's article sums it up well. How loud is loud? How can you tell based on your speaker volume level? Who plays games with their ears 1cm away from their video card?

No BFG? Maybe they are one of the other board partners...though the GTX 480 and 470 are on their website.
