They don't charge you money till they get stock so no they don't get money till it ships. BUT they do get assurances that what they do ship will sell.

Well, quite a few received their cards this morning.

Interesting numbers to say the least. This person couldn't get 100% load unless they did it fullscreen which wouldn't let him show us his precision screen. Temps don't seem so bad...at 100% though with an overclock lol.

^^^ Yeah I had a "surf" over at Evga.com and it appears as though the Bench Temps are nowhere near what many here have been fearing.....looks to be very similar Temps to the 280's. All in all looks very promising for these Cards, particularly a SLI set-up.....single 480 looks to produce almost the same Vantage Score as a SLI 280, but completely creams it in Gaming Benches....the FC2 numbers are amazing for a single Card.(if its indeed 1920x 1200 Full 8x AA all Ultra), my SLI 280's get around 85 FPS Avg

.....can't wait to get my mitts on a couple of these later on...

Hopefully I get mine this Tuesday if they ship Monday here. Really want to play with these. Work is slowing down so got more time to play.

You're Rig is almost identical to mine...and I will be getting 2 x 480's as well...(end of summer or next batch), see if you can Post up some numbers, such as:

1. Vantage
2. FC2 (1920 x 1200 Ultra 8x AA)
3. Crysis Warhead x64

When running these try it with Fan Speed @ 80% and note Max Temps ;)

I have been told by NVIDIA that they shipped several thousand GTX 480 and GTX 470 cards out to their board partners early which is why we saw some initial stock arrive this week. The next shipment is already out and we should see much broader availability on Monday.

Thanks....1920 is what 'm most interested in. You have Metro 2033 ?Would be curious to see how 480SLI match-up to my 280 SLI here as well....
