When does HDMI 1.4 come out?

The technology debuted this time last year if I remember correctly, however I think it is just started to be implemented into commercially available products over the past few months.

HDMI 1.4: Sorry, not gonna happen. No way in hell am I going to upgrade my TV, PS3 AND receiver to take advantage of it. Nor will the majority of other people I am guessing.


Glasses: Two pairs free with the TVs. Extra pairs? $150USD each. No thanks.

IMO, this is great for gaming and movies in the cinema but I can't see it making its way to people's TV sets.

Holy shiz, really? Seems like a marketing scam again. If the tech were OLED including this, JUST MAYBE I would settle for the difference, albeit a large chunk of change.

The software cost doesn't really bother me for a PC since that's par for the course. Nor is NVIDIA's implementation of it. What bothers me is this 3D thing asks for FAR too much from the customer and doesn't facilitate implementation. If you want something to be adopted by enough consumers to make it a worthwhile enterprise, you have to hold hands.

HOWEVER, make no mistake about it; HDMI 1.3 WILL support 3D.

Samsung sent me their Canadian price list for the C-series TVs. I choked on my lunch when I saw the price of their 3D capable HDMI 1.4 units.

From what I heard both the Panasonic plasma and Sony LED models will be released at around 4 large for the 50+- inch.

Sony's current XBR line doesn't fetch more than around $2,500 and Panasonic is around the same.

Samsung I heard was doing both LED and Plasma for for under $2,500 for the 50 sizes which is a little more reasonable imo.

EDIT: Correction - $2,500 for the LED 40inch model.... 4G for the 55inch from Samsung


Oh ya and apparently you need a Samsung 3D ready Blu-Ray player which retails for $400...

as long as it requires glasses I have no interest in it, wearing glasses on top of glasses is a pain. Until they can come up with 3D projection (or holodecks, lol) they can keep their crappy products.
