XFX is joining the foray with Sapphire and Asus, preparing to launch a limited edition 4GB Radeon HD 5970 of its own. Like the others, XFX is basing the design around two true 5870 GPU's , unleashing the full 3,200 shaders, 850MHz core and 4,800MHz memory clock speeds. I wonder how much more you're paying for the decent cooler on the Asus one though, it seems to only make sense to me to water cool this monster. The stock heatsink wouldn't be seeing much use

They used two real 5870 non-crippled GPUs, doubled the RAM and charged $1000 yet kept the ref cooler?! Why?!

If you're going to charge that kind of money, and put two 5870 GPUs on the same board, could you not have thrown in an Arctic Cooling-sourced or Zalman-sourced cooler in there?

Maybe they will actually get normal HD5970 availability before launching this thing.
