Yes it not COMPLETELY stable, but it was able to run the cards fine. Two 4870X2 is quite the power hog...

Factoring in efficiency, that PSU was actually under a load of about 630W, or 10W above its rating. And that's assuming the reading from the Seasonic Power Angel meter (which is not especially accurate) was correct.

Anyway, I doubt that this card will pull any more than 200W under typical gaming load, if even that, which means that with an average system, you'll be seeing about 300-400W of power usage while gaming. Perfectly fine for a 500W PSU.

Will a psu run a system isn't the question, in my opinion. The more important question is, will the psu run it comfortably over the long term. Running on the cheapest power supply, with the lowest wattage that can actually boot the system, isn't a good plan. Doesn't bring the word "stability" to mind here, more of a "if I wait long enough, I can light a smoke off it, since the toaster isn't working" sort of thing.
Total agreement with ST in post#30, 50-60% max usage of available power is a very good range. With a quality psu, of course.

Just remember that GTX285 needed more amps than this, you guys are taking this WAY out of perspective. This is not much more power than a GTX285.

Those power numbers don't scare me. Anybody willing to spend $500+ for a video card, most likely has a PSU that meets these specs.
