Default AMD "Magny Cours" Processors Starting Production

According to a blog post by an AMD sales/marketing representative:

[...]we’re building them now, and we expect that you’ll be seeing a launch before the end of the quarter. With 8 or 12 cores, 4 memory channels and lots of other great technology coming, it’s worth the wait. WELL worth the wait."

Very Interesting news indeed! 12 cores on one piece of silicon? Impressive! However, there's another tidbit of information posting by the same rep in the comments:

"Well, we are not targeting the enthusiast market with this product. We are focusing on the enterprise market. It’s really hard to do both, you end up doing neither great and you have just a mediocre product. For us it is about the enterprise for Magny Cours, but you will find some really interesting things on the client side this year that will really change things up."

Possible hints at a new architecture? Bulldozer ahead of schedule? Also interesting!

I agree (trust me, i know), but its the "client side this year" he mentions that may have been a slip of something to come for the rest of us

Socket G34 is not meant to filter down past the enterprise segment in consumer desktops. Rather, it will stick around there for support of the Interlagos CPUs.

The Zambezi CPUs on the other hand will use the successor to AM3....supposedly.

That much we know, but I'm just really curious as to the "slip" of something this year. AFAIK Bulldozer architecture is only due early- to mid-year 2011. So what's coming out this year?

Bah, i hope it's more than that... Everyone knows about it so it's not a slip at all, lol. I've been hoping to see something come of the $1.25B that AMD got... oh well
