Default ATI Catalyst 10.1 WHQL Drivers Released

The first ATI drivers of the new year are here; ATI has released the Catalyst 10.1's. The driver's bring no major improvements, just general bug fixes, however CatalystMaker on twitter promises big things for the next , stating "10.1 is just a standard release to fix up some bugs, but 10.2 and 10.3 will indeed have some major new features". Question ATi Catalyst 10.1 Driver Problems on Windows 7

Hello everyone at Hardware Canucks,

How are you?

I'd like to let you know that I had some problems when installing ATi Catalyst.

1. The first thing odd that occured was the installation finishing with warnings. After opening the log file, I couldn't see anything wrong with the installation, but "Success" in all steps. Strange, no?
2. Catalyst Control Center (CCC) shows its version as being 9.12 and not 10.1 like it should;
3. Had to install Catalyst three times until I had it actually working, i.e. card identified and being able to run Crysis, for instance. Before each installation, I ran CCleaner to try to clean any "trace" of ATi software. Even went to Device Manager to delete any ATi component as well as your current monitor, so Catalyst would be able to re-identify both your graphics card and monitor.

The biggest problem now is to try to live with this, let's say, "problematic" driver.

So far, so good.

Waiting 10.2 already!

Cheers!

After testing this driver I had to move back to the 9.12 beta's. The idle clocks for me should be 157/300. With the 10.1's they are 400/1200.

So far I found the following problems:

1) In CCC, the driver version reported shows 9.11 instead of 10.1.
2) My 2 monitors no longer turn off as scheduled in Windows after 10 minutes of inactivity. Instead they remain on, but receive a black screen signal.

I've confirmed issue number 2 with another member on RFD. He's running a single Dell 24" monitor with a 5850 and he's getting the same problem as me with my 5870.

I'm too lazy at the moment but I may roll back to the 9.12 drivers...

The monitor Standby problem is a known one with the 10.1 and 10.1 Hotfix releases.
Going back to 9.12 or up to the latest beta driver will resolve this.
