This will be a total flop by Apple standards IMO. Besides the fanboy crowd, I don't see the average consumer buying a device with LESS functionality than an iPhone for a lot more cash. No physical keyboard, no phone, nothing that an iPhone doesn't do. It will use the same apps so there's really no difference especially for everyone who already has an iPhone. I think tablets in general will flop and this will be the biggest failure.

EDIT: NVM, it has 3G. And is less than $1000.

It starts @ $499 not $1000.

Updated pricing. Rumours are varied, however the general feedback is that it well be between $500-$600 USD WITH a carrier contract and $999 by itself.

$499 is rumoured Euro pricing with T-Mobile contract.

$499 is w/o 3G. $629 w/ 3G.

Except in Canada 3G is going to be expensive I can imagine due to our greedy carriers.

Pricing information is litterally been spoken about now so I;m taking every third hand. Picture posted above

Still trying to get conclusive answer about carrier contract subsidies. $130 premium seems pretty weak for a discount for a contract.
The iphone is over 75% off when you purchase with contract.

Still trying to get conclusive answer but I can almost guarantee that those prices are with carrier contract.
No contract. The devices come unlocked according Gizmodo.

Yup I see that update. Changed.

I was reading that AT&T was offering ipad special plans so one would logically assume AT&T would be carrying it and offering contract pricing along with the non contract bundle... however maybe not at least not in the USA.

AT&T offers $30 Unlimited data plan: Apple iPad 3G service plans on AT&T, $30 for unlimited data -- Engadget

I currently pay $30 for 6GB of data from Rogers.... FML
