Well according to nvidia at CES production is "ramping up." So it probably is being made at TSMC right now or else we wouldn't be seeing a successful launch in march.

Or perhaps, Nvidia hasn't made any real firm comittment to release date until after they got confirmation on chip availability?

;)

Well, they did announce they should have it fixed before Q1. But this, this is early. I was expecting mid-February before they started improving in the slightest. But throwing $1.6 billion at machinery and hiring thousands can do a lot of good.... Fudzilla - TSMC continues its machinery shopping spree

^^ Haha I like how they have a spelling mistake on the 6th word of like a 4 sentence story. And why is it not all in one paragraph?

This indeed is very good news, more stock of ATI 5xxx cards and hopefully no delays for Fermi (not counting the ones already)

What was the main problem at TSMC? Like was it the litho that was off or was it the cleanliness, or maybe even something well beyond that, going all the way back to the desert where they get the sand from?

Something about dual rooms of some sort. They merged some 2 rooms into one and solved a lot of logistical problems.

EDIT: What TSMC said

Quote:
“lots of new tools were brought in and they added a complexity to production. The problems that [had] cropped up had to do with two chamber matching. We consider these to be logistical problems and we [were] in the process of resolving them very quickly.”
