Just wanted to affirm what Sky already stated. If you want to try a "hotfix" from ATi. Always treat it as a separate driver. Uninstall and preferably clean the registry of old links and such then install the hotfix. I know the term hotfix is confusing. Sounds more like a patch than another/different driver. But with ATi, it is a different driver.

I think they really need to change this. Maybe name thier drivers that are not supported with an "EXPDriver" (Experimental) or something.

NVIDIA uses the term "beta driver"

ATI uses the term "hotfix"

Its still confusing that the driver and the hotfix got released on the same day... I mean, why not just mesh the hotfix into the actual driver?

This shit is confusing as hell.. do I use 9.12 or do I use hotfix? and if everyone is supposed to use hotfix, whats the point of having the 9.12 download?

Typically, WHQL certification takes about a week but there are daily driver dumps from ATI's driver team. It could be that within the week of WHQL certification they began finalizing those additional features and decided to release them before the end of the year. That's why one driver is WHQL certified while the other is not.
