Well maybe if AMD's management hadn't been comprised of lobotomized primates and they hadn't purchased ATI for $5.4 billion back in 2006 (which they couldn't even afford at the time), things would be going a little bit differently for them. But I have no sympathy for a company that decided to charge very high prices for their products and stagnate for three years rather than providing affordable solutions and pushing technology further by developing new architectures and improving performance, while making questionable business decisions the entire time. AMD would be behaving in the same way as Intel if they could, except sadly for them the people in charge don't quite have the brains to pull that off.

I certainly wouldn't mind being as guilty at succeeding as Intel is. Frankly, their business practices don't bother me too much, because at the end of the day what's important to me as an enthusiast is performance, and Intel hasn't compromised that.

Succeeding via robbery/market fixing = asshats. You know it. Defend them some more fanboy.

If AMD ever manages to come up with a performance-competitive architecture, I'll get interested in them again. But if not, then I don't really care. Anyway, I'm not going to debate with you any more. At this point, what we're discussing has little to do with the actual topic of this thread.

I am seriously considering a $1000 CPU for the first time in my life. Its not the 6-core I really want the overclockability of a 32nm CPU.

Honestly dude AMD is no saint and would do the same in Intels position. Also not to mention the allegations of gpu price fixing. Get a grip. They are two sides of the same coin. Don't be foolish.

Personally I can't blame Intel with the prices they have they are pretty much the only choice for a half decent rig. If AMD had anything even half decent I would consider but no thanks.

And yay for Intel at least one chip maker keeps pushing forward.

AMD will be dead from a long time if it was not from IBM and Intel, in the year 80. IBM ask AMD to produce under licence the Intel 808x processors , IBM at the time want to have 2 suppliers. In the year 90, few years after the cooperation stop, AMD clone the i386, it's only after they buy a company ( I forgot the name ) than they start to produce something on their own. So actually AMD was the first to still something. I'm not any fan boy at all, I work hard for my money, So why I will purchase a second grade product ? they is no moral in the case Intel-AMD, no one was kill, no child was abuse, it's only business wars.

Actually they did design their own CPUs before that, but the company you're thinking of is NexGen, which AMD bought to get the CPU that would become the K6.
