Just doing some preliminary diagnostics now, but AMD should be getting me -smp 16 within the next couple of weeks. :bleh:

it may be stupidly expensive, not entirely useful in my everyday life, but like the 24gigs of ram, I WANT! Now I wont buy unless I win a lottery soon, which the odds are against me, but that wont stop me drooling. I do want to see what AMD has before I upgrade (which has sadly been postponed as I am out of work still)

People do like their toys. If I had loads of cash to burn, I'd spend that kind of money.

Nothing that can compete. The earliest we might see something that can is in 2011 if they manage to get Bulldozer out the door on schedule, but by then who knows what Intel might have up their sleeves.

Well, next in succession after i5/7/9 would be K11/13/15, but I think that was already done by AMD .
Or, more likely they'll redo the naming scheme and I'll be putting in Intel Core "20q52n;;lkj54" into my pc..:blarg:

If AMD had the money that Intel did from being such :censored:ing crooks then the outlook would be a whole lot more different. Intel != Morals.
