Default Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Rumoured for Q3 2010

Windows 7 was ushered in only two weeks ago, amidst much fanfare and great anticipation that Microsoft would finally be able to right all its Vista wrongs. While consumers are still deciding if it is in fact the messiah OS, reports from Wzor - a website which eerily seemed to be able to provide nearly every early beta release - indicate that devel... OMG win seven have bug :O I mean...impossible Seriously people are giving to much to what I consider as a Vista SP3, yes there is still some bug in win 7 but is it not a little early to talk of a SP? By previous time it was taking about a year before we can see any of these update monster. Maybe they will fix the theme and give us the possibility to shrink to a vista theme It would be nice I don't really like the new fitting of open windows in 7. Just my own opinion. It's at all really a great news that microsoft is backing their new OS like that!

Takes two seconds to shrink the taskbar back to the orginal size, style, and function, quickbar and all.

Right Click Taskbar -> Properties -> Check "Use small icons" -> Change Dropdown "Taskbar buttons" from "always combine, hide labels" to "never combine"

And your done!

Default sp1 already

Just testing out a new feature, but wanted to comment on it always.

I love Windows 7 personally. Been using it since first RC and have been very happy. It definitely has some great aesthetics upgrades but I find it faster overall.

SP1 does seem a little fast within a year, but I guess it also shows MS's commitment to making sure that the product is up to date and is fully supported by them.

Hopefully though it will bring some new stuff that we can't even fathom in an OS, as right now I can't see anything wrong with Windows 7, it feels practically perfect. Gone is the crappy "where the hell is it" interface of Vista and the sluggish reponse. It brings back a lot of what made XP so successful with its snappy operation and its design that appeals to both beginners and has options for those more advanced.

Its a winning OS in my books so far!

I always thought Vista, despite it's shortcomings, was an upgrade to XP. It's the tiny things I can't remember off the top of my head... but I remember taking a computer and installing a copy of Windows XP Pro SP2 onto a computer that used to have Vista. Sure, it was way more responsive, but XP nags and nags and nags ad nauseam from the icon tray (I really thought it was worse than UAC). XP has a horribly ugly default theme and I wasn't able to search for anything straight from the start menu. I wanted Vista back.

Fast forward to now. I had a copy of Windows 7 RC installed on a brand new computer. I found a driver bug with a sound card I purchased a little while later. So, I installed a copy of Vista onto a second partition and dual booted to see if it was fixed in Vista. Well, I went through the same thing I did when I installed XP from so long ago. It was the tiny things again, but I wanted 7 back.

Now that I have purchased Windows 7, I wouldn't want to go back. Not to Vista (of course) and not to XP. Besides, driver support for 64 bit environments really takes XP out of the question, anyway.

I currently use Ubuntu on one dektop, XP Pro on my work laptop, Vista on my personal and wife's laptops, and just recently moved from XP Home to Win7 Home Premium on my new desktop.

Alll in all, I had less issues with Vista on my laptops than I did with XP on my former desktop and to date, I have had NO issues whatsoever with Windows 7. So for me, Win7 is... well, a WIN.

Cheers!

I also assume you want that "- (Appear offline)" tab out of there too eh?

Start -> All Programs -> Windows Live -> Right click on Windows Live Messenger -> Properties -> Compatibility tab -> Set Compatibility Mode to Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)

It gets rid of that tab and bring WLM to the taskbar on the right.
