Default 5770's See the light of day in Toronto

The first 5770's to be made available to Canadians were spotted at a local Toronto and online chain this morning. With the online center showing stock in all Toronto stores.

Available is the Sapphire 5770, retailing for $189.99.

This pricing strategy allows for a pair to be less expensive then a single 5870 (and maybe outpaces it in performance.) It will be an exciting few days as we together wait with baited breath for these benchmarks, too see if two cards can continue the trend of bettering the best one.

From what I read it loses to a 260 and 4890, price point seems rather funny.... just early prices or what?

link added to the main post.

These cards actually match up with the 4890 and come close to the 275 per the limited reviews I've seen. In CF, I'd anticipate they would surpass a 5870 (if it scales in CF like the 4770's did)

It actually has a lower gpu score in many of the sythetics I've seen. Overall I'm unimpressed since my 4890 matches it or beats it at a lower cost. The lack of a 256-bit bus is also going to be limiting at a res higher than 1680x1050, even with its high-bandwidth gddr5 memory. I'm willing to bet that upcoming dx11 titles will be very shader heavy and a card like this will not be able to cut the cake.

Knew it was Canada Computers. $190 for a 5770 isn't bad.

@Cowboy. Er, from the leaks I've seen, the 4890 can't match up to the 5770. However I'll reserve my final opinion till the official review by XXX is out.

Where can you find a HD 4890 retailing for under $200 without rebates?

Ok so I might have been wrong on the price-front. I'm used to buying the majority of my hardware used, and you can find 4890's for 160 everywhere.

$215. Right where it should be.

SRP for the HD 4890 is $220.

And Canada Computers' price for the HD 5770 is slightly inflated. Plus, the HD 5770 is supposed to compete with the GTS 250 at that price point.
