Default SLI-Crossfire mixed Cards? Why, yes please!

AnandTech: Lucid Hydra 200: Vendor Agnostic Multi-GPU, Available in 30 Days

Vaporware turned reality. I wonder if this will finally force ATI/nV to get their st together and open the format up to make this work without the LUCID chip....eventually...

Yah did you read the part about how it will only work with Windows 7?

Epic fail in my opinion.

So this begs the question... Why haven't you bought a technet subscription and moved to 7 already? Some of the best money I've spent in a long while...

My point was that people who run XP or Vista are completely in the dark about this. You HAVE to run Windows 7 or your SOL.

And no I will not switch to 7 just as I didn't switch to Vista and I'm not going to get into why. So lets keep this thread on topic.

Five letter word begins with F. Now need a new Board. RC 7100 works nice. :)

This is the part that intrigues me the most:

Even more impressive is Lucid's claim that you can mix and match GPUs of different performance levels. For example you could put a GeForce GTX 285 and a GeForce 9800 GTX in parallel and the two would be perfectly load balanced by Lucid's hardware

Yes, I have to say I have been waiting for this for a long time. The lack of game profiles for sli and crossfire, the ability to run different brands (even if it only works under 7) and the ability to run different generations cards. Running more than one card is becoming more and more plausible.

Can't wait.

Agree.

Nothing like upgrading to a GTX3xx series, and leaving my gtx275 in to crossfire/SLI/LUCID with.

Oh hell, why dont I add my 8800GTX in the mix too. Just cause I can!

If that worked, that would make me consider upgrading. I think it would be totaly cool to be able to run mixed crossfire/sli
