Slightly OT. But I think I saw on engadget that some retailers in Asia are already selling the i5s..... and that there are i7s using socket 1156? Did I miss something here? WTH is an i7 doing in the i5 socket? Can intel be any more confusing?

Post @ Engadget:
Video: Intel is clandestinely selling Core i5 and new i7 chips in Taiwan

Buh? Has Intel gotten extra-stupid recently?

That's almost as stupid as intel making two mainstream sockets... well, maybe it's more stupid. "Let's confuse customers more! Let's make them think that all the i7s fit into these new i5 boards."

... You know someone, somewhere is going to try a drop an i7 920 into a P55 motherboard now... should prove amusing.

1156 is a socket. They can name their processors whichever way they want. It's a little dumb to have 3 platforms on one socket, but what can you do? The i7s on the 1156 socket have the cheaper memory bus (DMA I think?) and only dual channel. Other than that, they have 4 cores, 8 threads.

It's not actually "In Stock" though if you do a stock check.
