For the price, I think I'll take an i7 if I want more performance. However, you do save on the platform with AMD. A good choice to consider.

While the 965 is a great cpu , what the available reviews tell me is that my X2 550, 4 cores unlocked at 3.82Ghz stable, was a fantastic buy.

Some people are reporting these chips can easily do above 4.0Ghz that's very exciting.

It's very possible, as most unlocked Phenom II seem to hit like 4Ghz now. However, it seems that when running a 64 bit OS, your overclock will actually be lower than if you were running a 32 bit OS.
