Default World's first DirectX 11 GPU

AMD shows off world's first DirectX 11 GPU

COMPUTEX 2009, Taipei - June 3, 2009 - At a press conference in Taipei, Taiwan today, AMD (NYSE: AMD) publicly demonstrated the world's first Microsoft DirectX® 11 graphics processor.

I heard G200 cards will partially support DirectX 11, so they are not suddenly obsolete.

Either way, developers will still make DX9 games because it's been proven to be reliable and can perform very close to DX10. DX11 games won't come out for a while, just like how DX10.1 was never adopted quickly.

In terms of the 200 Series card? I'm pretty sure that's impossible because DX is like hardware code.

I'd jump on Linux in a second if I could play all my games on it - sad.

PC Perspective - Computex 2009: AMD Demonstrates working 40nm DirectX 11 Silicon

They're using the Froblins demo to highlight some of the improvements, but you only need a 10.1 card to run the Froblins demo.

Either you support DX11 or you don't. Same thing happened back with the introduction of DX10, when Nvidia pressured M$ to relax certain standards, as they were having issues with certain aspects of it. If Nvidia's current architecture can't even support DX10.1, I can't seem them properly supporting DX11 at this time.

Dx11 will be a non factor for 1-2 years anyways, just like dx10 was when the first hardware came out that supported it.Nice to see some info on new stuff though.
