My System Specs

Default Asus C90 cheap, customizable laptop announced

The component list as described by PCLaunches.com (shown at bottom)seems a little too impressive for 950- The reaity is that it can support this hardware, but for 950 you get an empty shell. It seems that judging by the ebay seller's description, the 1100 CAD price includes no processor or memory or hard drive- here's the features list from that listing:
  • Amazing Desktop Performance,
  • Supports Conroe Desktop Processors, or Core 2 Duo
  • nVidia 8500 256MB Included,
  • Interchangable Graphics Cards
  • DDR 2 Memory to 3Gb
  • Finger Print Reader
  • Overclock with Turbo Gear
  • 80 - 160 GB Hard Drive
Here's PC launches release

Asus C90 is essentially designed for mobile gamers, from all angles. The key components of the notebook can be easily upgraded or replaced, so no need to worry about your laptop getting old in the future. It's powered by MXM graphics module that provides "high compatibility of different graphic processors from the industry". It also sports Asus exclusive 'Turbo Gear' that allows you to overclock processor by 20%. You can operate this machine in four different modes - Overclocking, Gaming, Standard, and Power Saving for optimum performance. The 15.4-inch lappie features 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 processor, 3GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT graphics card with up to 512MB memory and DVD super multi drive / HD DVD / Blu-ray.
Pre-loaded with Vista, it also provides 1680x1050 resolution, SATA hard drive, 2.0 mega-pixel webcam, fingerprint reader, Bluetooth, and wireless n. It's now available through eBay for $950.

(It should be noted that the EBay offer is for pre-order, but it's supposed to arrive in a few days)

I've been looking at prices and such ever since it was posted at NCIX last week, so far no one has one, but the best prices I could find was from Welcome to GenTech Computers in the US. Brian from gentech said it would cost around $70US to ship to Canada, not bad IMO
