pretty much all those cases nvidia wins unfortunatley :C
Your theory could get shot to hell if the HD 4890 somehow competes with the GTX 285.

It looks to have the exact same cooler as a reference 4870, so I'm thinking a waterblock should work on it. I'll check it out tonight and see if I can post a foto or two comparing ref. 4870 with ref. 4890.

Cheers.
Price? If you don't mind me asking?

Right now it is a fight to get ANYTHING up considering I just started working on a new test platform. If things work out, you guys should be in for a surprise come the next GPU release.

How does that make any sense? That means everyone is SoL when a new GPU arrives.

Give your wife my condolences.

Seriously though, It sounds as if the timing to upgrade from my x1950 Pro's is gonna be a good one. I was going to go with the 4870.

I just hate this nagging feeling I'll get a serious case of buyers remorse not holding out for a DX 11 card.

I get the same feeling, the jump in performance from dx9 to dx10 cards was mammoth, and if there is something similar with dx11 cards in the fall I will have to shoot myself.

Wait so someone correct me if I'm wrong but the 4890 will have the SAME number of shader processors etc. as the 4870 1GB?

The only difference is 100MHz increase in Core and Shader clock?
