I use daemon tools for legal purposes (running virtual game disks to keep the originals in original condition).
I don't mind content producers using cryptographic or other means to ensure that their products aren't pirated. I support methods like XP's authentication as long as they work and don't prevent me from making backup copies for my own legal use.
What I hate is crapware like starforce which goes beyond protecting content and starts enfringing on my rights.
Hehehe..... don't get me started....... :) |
Yeah I hear you, I have been making the same move to legitimacy myself ( ack ) , I actually have cd keys now not a keygen:D, the day they make a dvd/cd that is indestructible is the day I will stop using such software, as for music well I have some mp3's that I acquired 20 out of 24gigs are my own cd just ripped.
Plus we already pay a levy on dvd/cd's in Canada so the way I see it is you dont want someone to steal then dont accuse them of it and make them pay a "fine" without proof.
