What a shock, Nvidia is once again recycling parts for a new larger price to gouge for even more cash. These cards make no sense, just like the GTX295 which is no faster than the 4870X2.........

Its a 55mm GTX280, it MAY run a tiny bit cooler, and clock *slightly* faster(from what I'm reading, it doesn't), but clock for clock it will produce the same performance as the GTX280 does.

They make total sense if you happen to be in the Market for a new Card.....no....?! Thier really is no surprises here at all....did you really think that Nvidia was going to sit around and do nothing while the 4870x2 sat atop the hill? Of course not, they pumped out these Cards to grab the Title back.....I'm not saying that these Cards are for me, but they will fill someones void within their Rig. As far as I'm concerned the real GPU's to wait for will be the next round of "non GX2" Cards, as in 3xx Series.
Anyhoo......I've seen a couple of Posts here on this Forum whereby folks are claiming that the 4870x2 is still faster then the 295....however, upon going through this OC'ers Club 295 Review, both the 260 216 SLI and Single 295 outperform the 4870x2 in pretty much every condition, with that said and tyhe 295 being about $100 cheaper, ATI really should get that price knocked down.

Grabbed what title back? Depending on the review, the HD4870 X2 is still the king. These cards are nowhere near fast enough to command the press and price increase. They are STILL fighting YESTERDAYS top card with a new model. New released are coming in the next few months, those are the cards that matter. The GTX295/GTX285 are cash cows and Nvidia has been milking the industry long enough if you ask me. If you already own a GTX280/HD4870 X2 there is no reason to even blink at these cards since they are so minimally faster if at all.

Uh......am I missing something here.....I would believe I'm referring to the "Title" that both ATI n nVidia have been battling one another over for the past decade or so...you know...that fastest GPU available to the consumer as proven by the many Benches...thats what I'm referring to...its really not Rocket Science!

Isn't the newest Card available ALWAYS going to be "fighting" to some degree their predecessors? (sp) The bottomline is, if they're faster thats what counts....its not about "Budget Builds" this is about Mainstream Enthusiasts that want the "best" available. If it was about Budget, the 295 still comes in cheaper than a 4870x2...and according to the Benches I've seen, is faster! So why would you spend more money on a slower Card??...Really..c'mon.
4870x2 - NCIX.com - Buy Diamond Radeon HD 4870 X2 Xoc 800MHZ 2GB GDDR5 2XDVI PCI-E Video Card - 4870X2PE52GXOC In Canada. = $685 + Tax after MIR
GTX 295 - NCIX.com - Buy EVGA E-GEFORCE GTX 295 Plus 576+MHZ 1792MB 1.998+GHZ GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDMI HDCP Video Card - 017-P3-1292-AR In Canada. = $599 + Tax

In your eyes it is I suppose...kinda goes against the Reviews I saw...you can hardly say that one or two Benchmark Tests within dozens whereby it sneaks past the 295 (haven't seen em yet) deems it the King...I believe if a Card proves faster in Benches overall...thats its the faster Card..simple.
Anyhoo....

This I agree with completely!

Most of the reviews I've read put the GTX295 ahead of the 4870x2 slightly in slightly more than 50% of the tested games, therefore giving the edge to the 295. Not a blowout by any means.
However, AMD/ATI has announced price cuts for thier 4870x2 which does't seem to be reflected yet in Canada except for perhaps the $559 (AR) Diamond Radeon HD 4870 X2 750MHZ 2GB GDDR5 at NCIX
Some U.S. prices seem to have dropped already on the 4870x2, as low as $419 U.S.
