Just as a heads up, and remember I'm a massive ATi fanboy, the GTX 295 IS faster than the 4870X2, but only by the skin of its teeth.

The reason nVidia came out with the GTX 295 is simple, to gain the title of "fastest card on the block", no matter how short lived it may or may not be, and to fill the gap that till now has only been filled by ATi(ultra high end). Is the purchase price worth it? Is the ATi 4870X2 a better value(with recent upcoming price drop)? Thats up to the buyer to decide, but competition is good for all, regardless which team your a fan of.

Well said Chilly....as one Green Fanboy to one Red Fanboy .....and Monster...with all of this we all benefit, regardless of the choice of GPU....with a price cut to that 4870x2,the ATI fellows should be very happy!

ha when I purchased my 4870 X2 it was priced at 529.99 (thanks to a good price from HWC's discounts) So far it has only gone up in price.
