Thought it would hit the electronics market sooner or later but not this late in the game.

Methinks I might buy some hardware now instead of waiting, I suspect prices will rise as supply tightens. ( I've read that a number of factories in China simply shut down)

I'm glad I upgraded my hardware when I did when our dollar was 8% higher than the U.S. ! I expect in 2009 for prices to go up significantly, for RAM and every electronic component not only because of our dollar that will go back down to levels it was once, but because of factories closing and reduced production - much like the OPEP cutting on production to get prices back up - the days of cheap hardware are almost over and it will stay like that for years to come.

This explains the situation that I'm in!

I recently noted how great customer service was at WD but recently set up and RMA on my Velioraptor and sent in another request for RMA for another drive. The process is taking too long and think I'm just going to reverse the expedited Visa charge. Wow, that's too bad :(

I'm surprised they weren't on the SSD production. I don't think these companies will last very long unless they quickly start adopting solid state sooner then later.

I don't think there is any safe place in the economy these days.
Everywhere is suffering to some lesser or greater extent.

This sucks, I don't care about the price of WD drives, nor the availabilty of them.
I care for the 2500 people who have to go home and tell their families that they don't have a job anymore.

Damn..
