Default GTX 295 and GTX 285 Very Close

Here they come. I think the GTX 285 will be the one I go for. Lower heat and power consumption (only two 6-pins) might allow me to use them in SLI on my 120.2 and actually put some watercooling on my mobo!

GeForce GTX 295 Card Exposed

Published on Wednesday, December 10 2008 12:53 pm by Visionary
Filed under: Graphics Card, News, Nvidia

VR-Zone scored the first photo of the upcoming GeForce GTX 295 card slated for launch over at CES 2009. The GeForce GTX 295 is based on the sandwich design again like the 9800GX2 with two 55nm GT200 GPUs. As you can see, there are 2 DVI and 1 Display Port. As for the power connectors, it uses 8+6 pins so that gives you a clue how much power this card needs. The pricing is yet to be disclosed but card makers are speculating that Nvidia will price it competitively against AMD 4870X2 card this time.

55nm GTX285 Climbs to Head of Single-GPU Cards

December 11th, 2008 by Sue Graphics, NVIDIA
We have looked into 55nm GeForce GTX260 VGA Card, now letís turn to 55nm GTX280. It features brand-new PCB design and enhanced default frequency. Besides, itís been given a new brand Ė GeForce GTX285.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX280

Adopting P891 as reference design, GeForce GTX285 remains 10.5Ē length just as GTX280. And its cooler is dual-slot designed with dual DVI and S-Video output. The graphic memory carries on 1GB GDDR3, and its stream processors is 240. The frequency of GeForce GTX285 remains to be confirmed, but its performance can get up to 110% of GTX280.
We can regard GeForce GTX285 as GTX280 Overclocking Edition with less power consumption. GeForce GTX280ís Maximum Graphics Card Power is 236W, and it requires a 6-pin and a 8-pin PEG Power Connectors. However, GeForce GTX285ís power consumption has been reduced to 183W with only 2 6-pin PEG power connectors needed.
GeForce GTX285 with highest clock and lowest power consumption is undoubtedly the most powerful card in single-GPU cards, while new GeForce GTX260 arouses the most attention in middle and high-end cardsí price war. Dual-GPU GeForce GTX295 is expected to regain the crown of performance. All of these will happen in January 2009.
After unveiling details of NVIDIA new-line products, we will follow some news about AMDís plan to fight back, such as RV775XT. (Special thanks to one of our readers who provides information)

Man you been bringing some serious news to us lately!!.. Thanks again..

Yeah same here, GTX285 does look something sweet, let's just hope the prices of the 2 cards aren't hiked up like what happened at the launch of GTX280, they had to reduce prices anyway after because of competition.

Can't wait to see some reviews on this, just a month to go.. But I'm sure on the other side of the border, AMD is also planning big!!.. The 4800 series are pretty successful thus far and a big boost from the 3800 series, the new lineup I'm sure will have killer cards..

Zlojack, thanks for the news again!!: )

Wow...that is one High end Card that will probably never grace the insides of my computer.
The one think I love about nVidia Cards, is the Black/Green Design and how clean the lines look.

Thanks for the Post!

Well, your GTX 280 is no slouch. They've been out for quite a while and getting use out of them. If this card was still a month or two away, I'd be sticking with the 65nm stuff, but since it's right around the corner, I'll probably go for it.

Well considering if you bought a EVGA 280 one could opt for the step-up right? lol
I'm trading down to a 260-216, so this doesnt really do all that much for me..... until the upgrade bug comes knocking again....
