Just finished reading the ASUS Rampage Extreme X48 Motherboard Review here, and wow it's nice, but will it keep one over till this new one comes out? LOL. Bummer.

Great review btw, I like the way it's done here. Very thorough and considerate of things like HSF fit.

I hear ya. How are you liking it?

I'll probably upgrade a couple CPUs in the next year or so, but no mobos till that new socket is out and below the stratosphere in prices.

Gotta have that tri-channel mem! But it can wait since my current rigs are pleasently fast.

Lets have a little pool on the price of this puppy. Whoever is closest to the release price without going over, wins!

Guessing from the current price of the Rampage X48, I'll post a price of $595. That's a little over a hundred bucks more than the X48. Judging from the current price increases I've seen these days (most likely due to the falling Canadian dollar vs USD), I may be way under with this.

Yeah, I'm going to roll with this board for a while yet. I've been waiting to rebuild my water loops for a while as I still have a few parts I need on the way. Once that happens, I'll be overclocking, but for now it's at 525 FSB (3.15GHz) with the RAM at 1260MHz (the RAM I have does not like this board, I should be getting some better stuff soon)

It's still fast even with these wussy clocks, so once we get things cranked up, it should be fun!

I think you're in the right range there.

I saw that before and it's something I'm really looking forward (I love my Maximus Formula so I expect this one to perform better than mine with a Core i7). Expect your first born, left testicle, a leg and a arm for it tho ;)

Nice clock on the ram! 1260MHz is nothing to shake a stick at! Better ram will be hard to find.

It doesn't need to perform better to be faster. My lord, 600MHz FSB is crazy. If it performs the same, but with tri-channel ram and the new tech that will be in these new socket CPUs, it should squash benchmarks at the same given FSB and RAM speeds.

I really like the Tweak-it feature. I know I would have a blast with that. I didn't realise the feature was already out in the Rampage X48, the original review I posted seemed to elude that it was a first release on the Rampage II.

The Probe-it feature is new though, correct?

Well, it's DDR3...so 1260 isn't that greeat

I'm getting acceptable bandwidth at that speed, but it won't do more than that. I've got a line on some very good sticks, so hopefully next week I'll have them in.

Well, the new tech is totally different. No more FSB.

So overclocking is quite different than on current Intel platforms. Somewhat more like AMD, from what I've heard.
