This was actually hilarious...I found myself laughing several times during reading....It's informative....well written...but to make it better read it in head with a silly Brit accent and suddenly you find yourself sounding like the Reviewer for "Zero Punctuation" The Escapist...which if you haven't checked out I highly recommend it.

Anyway looks like some good news for Nvidia's Partners and good news for us consumers....lower prices on decent NV cards and I think it's about time ATI lowered it's price on the 4870X2 and released the long awaited 4850X2 anyway.

It almost sounds like he is knowledgeable about technology ;) (I kid, Charlie can be a great source of factual information... at times)

Your suggestion about talking like Yahtzee of ZP was awesome, it make him actually a little funnt instead of just trying to be.

That said, very interesting, but not surprising - though I thought they were progressing to the GTX3** series?

Well we'll see what the numbers say when the GTX290 is released I would imagine it will be very similiar to 8800GT to 9800GTX fiasco there will be some improvements but nothing spectactular.

It will be the time to buy a GTX280 :P... OT : can a HX620 psu support a 280 ?

As long as you have the 6+2pin PCIE cable the HX620 should be more than enough to drive a GTX280, personally I went with a more powerful powersupply just to be safe and a little future proofing.

I checked Corsair's website and with your setup it says that a HX520 and the TX550 were the recommended powersuppply unit.

I cant imagine huge gains from the 280-290 but a further reduction in heat and and noise will certainly make the 4870X2 sound like a supersonic jet and hot like the freaking sun comparatively.

They're actually improving something, why would they do something crazy like that? New series are for rebranding old stock.

Seriously, might be interesting if the heat reduction lets them hit some higher clocks. Right now, the cards seem to be thermally limited, as even volt mods seem to defeat themselves from the extra heat they make. But if the heat can be lowered, perhaps some higher clocks can be found somewhere.
