Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition Q965 Pictured & Benchmarked

Coolaler over on the OCXtreme forums has posted some great pictures of the upcoming Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition Q965 'Nehalem' processor and Intel X58 motherboard, as well as some of the first real performance results.

Looks promising. Definitely some improvement over Penryn, clock-for-clock, although obviously not the earth-shattering Prescott-Conroe improvement. Now it just remains to be seen how high the things will clock.

I like the layout on that one motherboard, with the 3+1 RAM slots. Makes a lot of sense for a real benching board.
