My System Specs

Default Is my 525W PSU enough for a GTX 780?

Hello! I decided to replace after a few years of service my GTX 570 "Goes Like hell" with an overclocked GTX 780. I was wandering if my Enermax modu 82+ 525W can handle well my configuration, or if I need to buy a new PSU too.
And if that's the case what would you suggest?
Thanks in advance :)

How old is the PSU?

You would probably be using mid 400w range. If the PSU is pretty new you could probably get away with it, but if its not (I don't think it is new) I would grab a quality 600-650w to give you worry free power. Any seasonic, or corsair will be a solid choice (many others available as well that are good choices as well).

Thanks a lot for the reply. I bought my psu in the 2008 and I stressed it quite a lot during these years.
Maybe it's time to change it. I mean I don't want to push it at his limit. I will be looking for a very good 600/650W ad you suggested:) Since I won't be using multiple gpus I think 600/650W of a good PSU should be more than enough. What would you choose if you were in my position?
Thanks again.

I'm not sure if it still stands but I believe the rule of thumb used to be 10% reduction in clean output / year.

Haven't heard that before, but the idea behind it makes sense. I would think the % would be lower though.

So if my psu had lesser years it would probably be still ok to handle a GTX 780.
Anyway I agree it's not worth taking the risk.
Yes I'm buying from Italy. If you got suggestions let me know:)
Thanks a lot for the help.

IMO I would use the PSU you already have. I still use a HX620 that I bought years ago (>5 I think) with a 7970 and I am not concerned. I am not saying that my HX620 won't die at some point but I will use it till it does. I mean I have bought many PSUs and had a couple fail on me but never had any issue but the psu dying. The latest was a 6 month old AX860 that went up in smoke. Nobody would see that coming and I will not know the day the HX620 dies. I guess my point is that I have never had a PSU failure take out any other hardware and so I am willing to use them till they die.
