12V EPS 8pin to 4 pin converter/connector?

HI guys,

I just picked a real cheap cpu+mobo+ram combo for a broke colleague at work. I was going to put that into an older dell case with the dell psu, the only issue is, the EPS cable is 8 pin and the mobo only takes a 4 pin 12 EPS cable. If I try to split it with the knife will it still work or I can find a connector somewhere? I googled it, but they are all 4pin to 8 pin converters. Thanks for your help in advance.

a good steady hand and olfa knife should do the trick, note Dell PSU are propitiatory so double check ground pins locations

of if got an DOA GB MB cut off connection and solder 4 wire on one side

check with volt meter, don't rely on wire colours

mabye i'm mistaken, but can't you just plug in 4 pins on those without cutting? Either the left or right 4 pins?

Yfg I have some 8 pin solid to 2x4 adapter cables kicking around $5 and one will be on the way:)
