My System Specs

Default The how much power does your computer use thread

I thought it might be a useful resource to pool together any actual power usage information people may have to give others a real world idea of what power supply to use and how much power they can be expecting to use. Please no approximations or from website reviews/ calculators (only using some form of power meter etc).

To start, my computer is older, but basically phenom II x3 710, gtx 460, 1tb wd black, 3 120mm and 1 140mm case fans, 2x2gb 1066 ddr2, all through a Seasonic s12II 500w. Power use from a blueplanet energy meter.

On and idle 98w.
Average in gaming 265w.
Peak it has recorded (not using high stress programs, just my usage) 280w.

Mine uses 1.21 gigawatts.

Typically I use plutonium stolen from a group of Libyan terrorists to generate the electricity needed.

I'll update this when I know

I have a CyberPower UPS with a built in energy meter. I also have a Kill-A-Watt meter but using the UPS is easier.

My rig, an Asus P8Z68, i5-2500K, WD Caviar Black, GTX 460 1GB, with 8GB of RAM, draws about 70W at idle, and peaks at about 220W during heavy gaming or encoding. My monitors and speakers are extra.

i7 3770K
ASUS GTX260MATRIX (Yay Nostalgia!)
8GB Mushkin
Intel SSD
500WD Black

Idle is between 90-102. When I load it up on just the CPU (Prime at 4.0) I get 163.

IB is so efficent. My Poor 930 would chew 220W at idle.

My main rig uses about 350-400watts when gaming.. I'd test under full load but I'm scared I'll blow the plug socket off the wall ;)
My girlfriends rig uses a mere 140watts under full load (shame I got a 600watt SeaSonic hooked up to it, what a waste :p)
