I wonder, will a little 1.8GHZ dual core Athlon be enough to support FAH on this card? The Athlon doesn't do any work other than media playback. The CPU itself won't be folding.

Yes, if all you are doing is GPU folding you have no issues whatsoever.

We dun have em yet.

A 550w should run a single 295.I'll be trying one of these initially.

Not sure if you have read it or not, but I pulled up the old HWC review of the GTX 295 and SKY said "we would not recommend you used anything under a good 650W power supply if you are running a GTX 295."

EVGA GTX 295 1792MB GDDR3 Video Card Review

If you haven't found a power supply yet I have some options for you. NCIX sale that you price beat at memory express.

Antec HCG 620w $120 at ME and $75 at NCIX PM to get it for under $64
Antec HCG-620M 620W ATX12V Modular SINGLE-RAIL 48A 80PLUS Bronze 135mm Fan Active PFC Power Supply

Antec High Current Gamer 620W Modular Power Supply at Memory Express

Or Corsair TX750w V2 $135 ME and $90 NCIX PM at ME for under $79

Corsair TX750 V2 750W ATX 12V Single Rail 60A 24PIN ATX Power Supply Active PFC 80PLUS Bronze

Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 Power Supply at Memory Express

Ah there yah go , I stand corrected.
however ;

I do remember it being kind of a crapshoot getting both cores folding on a 295......If only one core is running , 550 will be fine.
