Would A Good 850watt powersupply be enough You can look at my spec's ,but I have a i7-3820 @ 4.725gig on a AsRock X79 Exetreme-4,plus 4 x4gigs of G.sKill DDR1666 and two ASUS GTX-670 DirectCU II and one 256g SSD boot drive and 3-640gig western Digtal Black and two 1TB Samsung drives and a Corsair H-100 and 5 case fans, but they just draw .17amps each.Do you think a SilverStone Strider Gold 850watt modular http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817256067 Or a Corsair HX850 Gold 850W and it is modular. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139011 Does crosair make the OCZ power supplies or the other way around ,They sure are starting to look a like. |
A quality 850W will do. And AFAIK the most on the Corsairs are re-branded Seasonics. That SilverStone is solid, and about the Corsair it's the AX850 which is gold certified, the HX series are 80+ silver. |

The Silverstone is Enhance, and very good too, so if thats what you are using for your setup its perfectly fine. -ST |
Did your 1100W and or 950W die? |
My PC Power & Cooling 950 MK II Blew UP big time ,it was louder then a shotgun and lit my room in the dark. |
Love my OCZ ZX 850, also used several XFX 850 core edition PSU's in gaming builds and they are super solid. |
IMO quality 850 is fine. The fact your other psu blew makes me wonder if for some reason you system is sucking back more power than I would think though. |
How is it sucking more power ,I have a AsRocK X79 Exetreme-4 ,4 x 4Gigs Of G.Skill 1666 ,I7-3820 and two ASUS GTX-670 DirectCU II ,H-100 CPU Water cooler,256g Cucial bootdrive and 3 westerndigtal 640g drives and two 1-TB drives and 5 case fans that just draw .17amp..I check a power caculater ,which I know dose'nt mean much,One told ne I needed a 950watt and the other said i needed a 771watt.This included my overclocks.I know there is always a bad one in the bunch ,no manner which powersupply i pick. The only other powersupply that went bad for me was a OCZ 700watt ,but there was no boom and no flash.I heard the PC Power & Cooling 950watt was made by OCZ.I have never had a SilvrtStone go bad and like I said the CookerMaster 1100 UCP ,which is over four years old and went though a house fire is still going fine.I just thought being in so much heat might have damaged it since it burnt my power cord off. |
I always pick a psu that is overkill for my needs so that it will hopefully power all my future upgrades. |
That's what I thought I did.But Q.C. was not good on this one,or it just one of those things that just happen. |
