XFX pro 750W fan is "ticking"

I only bought this PSU last summer or fall and now the fan is making a ticking sound, not very loud yet but annoying sometimes when the room is silent. I have the PSU on its side, not sure if that matters, tomorrow I'll lay it flat.

XFX RMAs to California I think, that would cost $40 and since I got this otherwise nice seasonic built PSU on sale for ~120, its definitely not worth that hassle.

Any thoughts on oiling these if it gets loud, or replacing the 140mm fan? Its fine for now, just thinking ahead.

I guess if you were feeling ambitious you could try but it may just be better to change the fan. Perhaps google around to see if anyone else has done it and find out what fan to use.

edit: this looks like it shows the specs of the fan. Same psu as you have?

Open that sucker up and change the fan:) done it a few times myself, one was mine...little hint I found every PSU that had a failing fan DID NOT regularly dust out there PC.

I agree change the fan or oil it . u-tube oiling vid. but in my experience Fans tick due to blades catching on something i.e. grill, like a leaf caught in a car heater fan.I have a couple of side fans in my case that if the side panel is not put on properly it has a twist to it that cause the fan(s) to tick on the distorted side panel.
Or just RMA the PSU if you can.

my case is a TV stand and I vacuum it clean, the PSU is as clean as it can get without opening it

I'll let go a while longer yet, don't want to ruin the warranty yet, but yeah I'll check some vidoes for that thanks
